Top 5 Reasons for Making Non-Alcoholic Craft Beer

It’s been 6 months since we launched Surreal Brewing Company and we are incredibly humbled by all of the support we have received and for the stories that people have shared with us.

One of the questions we get most is: Why did we decide to brew non-alcoholic beer?

Here are our top 5 reasons for starting Surreal Brewing Company:

1. We Love Beer

Beer tastes good, beer is festive, and beer is social. The craft beer movement brought with it hundreds of delicious variations on popular styles from West Coast Style IPAs to chocolate Porters with high quality ingredients and wholesome brewing. We wanted to taste them all. Who wouldn’t?

2. Millions of People Don’t Drink Alcohol

But what if you don’t drink alcohol? Or don't want alcohol at that moment? Millions of people don’t drink alcohol for so many reasons (health, diet, medication, recovery, etc….) and times (driving, racing, skiing, sports, working, pregnant, etc…). If this is you then the options at the nearest watering hole are slim.

3. Most NA at Happy Hour is Probably Not Craft

Craft NA beers are made of premium ingredients and innovative recipes. Large corporations make non-alcoholic beers as an after thought to their core business. We can’t tell you how many times we have been disappointed by a bland, yellow carbonated drink made by a massive brewer. Not so festive and not so tasty. We are solely dedicated to brewing great tasting, high quality NA Craft beer. #drinkcraft

4. Inspiration

Sometimes you get so used to things that you almost forget that something new is possible. But what if it is? We thought that if we wanted great tasting beer without alcohol then maybe others did too. This thought grew from an interesting conversation into a plan. We were inspired by the possibility of providing a space for people to enjoy a great beer minus the alcohol.

5. Having Choices = Inclusivity

We wholeheartedly believe in inclusivity. There should be beer for everyone! Whether you drink alcohol or not, during work, happy hour, parties, after a workout, on an adventure, camping, skiing, surfing. Really the list is endless. There should be options for all people. To beer lover’s everywhere I ask: What is better than being able to have a beer whenever and wherever you want?
